Hi All
It has been a tough year and a very different year, lets take a moment to think of the ones, who have had it harder than most, and also for the families that had lost loved ones during Covid-19.
Just briefly, as you know many New Zealand banks are planning to start discontinuing cheque use as a form of payment next year. This is to let you know that ECB RSA will no longer accept cheques as a form of payment - any payments received by cheque will not be processed. How to pay for services? We accept eftpos in the office and manual bank transfer (internet banking), your services will be paid for fast and securely. Your local bank will help you to set up and show you how to do this, if you have not done so already.
The annual Browns Bay Santa Parade went well, thank you to the boys, once again from the NZMVC who helped decorate and supply their vehicles, Thank you to our loyal volunteers, who all help to be a part, of this festive event, and also to the North Shore Army Cadets, who helped to gently distribute lollies to the overly excited children, it was definitely great to see so many happy faces in the crowd.
As for our annual 75 plus Returned Veterans Dinner, it was a great success once again. We were presented from David Ackerley, a Battle of the River Plate 13-12-1939, 50th Anniversary Plaque, which was handed over to our President Jim Martin. Thank you to the No. 6 Squadron Air Training Corps for your help, in handing out meals to our Veterans. Congratulations to Audrey, for wining the Christmas Hamper, kindly donated by New World Long Bay.
Our District President Graham Gibson spoke of the Covid-19 Fund from RNZRSA. As well as our distinguished guests, we had Ron Taylor and Margaret Cowdery, who are both Veterans from WWII, (please tell us your secret - you both don't look old enough). Thank you to our volunteer helpers, Kathy Hedley, Almarie, Scratchy, Nola Coulam, Anthea Avery and especially Julie Windybank for all your hard work, it is not an easy feat to organise this event.
We have showed our presence at the graduations of, No. 6 Squadron Air Training Corps, T.S. Bellona Navy Cadets, North Shore Army Cadets and Vanguard Military School, who we sponsor "The Shane Harrison Memorial Award for Defence Force Studies". (Photos to come).
That's about it for now, call it a wrap and good bye 2020, and bring on 2021.
We thank you for your continued support to your ECB RSA and wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and safe and Happy Holidays.
We look forward to seeing you all on our Club Night.

Kind Regards

Our RSA night with the Ode is every Friday, and we also have meat and money Raffles which start at 4:30pm, see you there. Friday night is important to us, as it is our time to reflect and to catch up with old friends and to make new ones..
